001 540 38 17 – Mercedes-Benz Oxygen Sensor

Description

001 540 38 17 – Mercedes-Benz Oxygen Sensor
The Oxygen Sensor (also known as a Lambda Sensor) is a critical electronic component that monitors the level of unburned oxygen in the exhaust gases. It generates a voltage signal based on the oxygen differential between the exhaust stream and the outside air, which is sent to the Engine Control Unit (ECU). This feedback loop allows the engine to maintain a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, optimizing combustion efficiency, reducing harmful emissions, and protecting the catalytic converter from overheating. This specific sensor is a heated 4-wire narrow-band design that reaches operating temperature quickly to minimize cold-start emissions.
Compatibility:
This part is primarily compatible with the following Mercedes-Benz models:

  • S600 Base Sedan (W220 Chassis) 2001-2002,
  • CL600 Base Coupe (C215 Chassis) 2001-2002, and
  • SLK230 Kompressor (R170 Chassis) 2001-2004.
  • It is also found in specific Smart Fortwo models (450 Chassis) 2003-2004 and Maybach 57/62 models produced during the early 2000s.
