The air conditioning evaporator is a primary heat exchange component within the vehicle’s climate control system. It is situated inside the dashboard’s HVAC housing. Its primary role is to absorb heat from the cabin air as it is blown across the evaporator’s aluminum fins by the blower motor. Low-pressure liquid refrigerant circulating through the unit absorbs this heat, causing the refrigerant to evaporate into a gas and leaving the passing air significantly cooler and dehumidified before it enters the passenger compartment.
